Al Dente the Armadillo Al Dente is well over 60 years old and alas, as he was an unlovely creature in life and so still is in his well-traveled state. Al has never been mounted and he has never been sited for a misdemeanor or felony. Al probably lost his life somewhere in Central Texas around 1951. From there he has traveled more places than the gnome, including French occupied Morocco and the high desert plains of Southern Idaho. He has relatives in Cumberland Island, Georgia; but he never visits them. This seedy side of his family represents a contingency of renegade armadillos that swam across the Cumberland Island Bay at low tide and now run rampant with the horses. (historical reference: Carnage family.) Al is an easy, cost effective pet. He no longer digs for grubs and he doesn’t drop little armadillo pellets in the foyer. He’s quiet and unassuming, docile and good-natured. He will sit for days, months and years on your coffee table and endure the fondling of many children. He does not bite or give off an offensive odor. Mr. Dente is a wee bit dusty and his tail was dislocated by a four year old in 1963. He took a tumble off the bookcase in 1972 but he did not complain and no first aid was required. Gentle Al needs a good home with adults and children, where family and guests alike will be appalled by the site of a stuffed armadillo in your house. Al Dente is not a wild bucking armadillo or pistol packin’ armadillo. Al has never had a beer and, please do not bring up the subject of armadillo handbags. Mr. Dente is part of the pampered memorandi of the 40’s and early 50’s. Armadillo’s were harvested and killed for the sake of the tourist trade… as were the alligators along the southern coast. But I will introduce you to Augustus at a later date. This one-of-a-kind (thank God!) specimen is available to a qualifying individual for $35.00. Proceeds go the “Roadkill Awareness”. Contact us now for an application! Fini: Al Dente is living happily with Mary in New Jersey.
